Les Roches Soeurs

2011

S1 - S2

The two “S’s” represent the two “sisters” (soeurs, in French) that make up the wine. Each vineyard parcel is symbolically designated with an “S”.

S1 represents Puligny-Montrachet “Les Femelotes,” a vineyard parcel in the storied Puligny appellation located midway up the slope. Soil here is rich in limestone and adds citrusy, floral, and mineral notes to the wine.

S2 represents Meursault “Les Coutures,” which sits towards the base of the slope near Puligny-Montrachet and has a higher proportion of calcareous clay. Grapes grown in this parcel contribute orchard fruit notes to the wine – green apple, pear, as well as a hint of almond.
